Pure '90s art-to-wear from Vancouver designer Zonda Nellis. This silk burnout velvet gown is cut on the bias, so it skims the body and pools into a soft, fluted hem. The velvet is etched in leafy branches, dotted rows and a scalloped floral border, shifting through slate blue, taupe, bronze and sky blue with glints of metallic. Over it floats the original sheer lavender shawl, trimmed in the same burnout velvet, with long draped points that fall like wings.
Wear the two together for full drama, or the gown alone for a sleek evening column.
